Good day Manager! Exploring Relationships and Perceptions Towards Adoption of NFT-based Play-to-Earn Games

A study by Parayno, Deja, Samson, and Deja

About the Study

The domain of NFT-based, Play-To-Earn (P2E) video games has emerged as an income-generating channel for cryptocurrency enthusiasts and individuals looking to supplement their income. While institutions have yet to design policies and systems related to crypto-based investments, NFT-based P2E gamers are silently making big waves in the financial scene. However, as the landscape is continuously-growing, not much is known about these gaming systems and their users.

In this research, we aim to gain a deeper understanding of these NFT-based P2E games and how their gamer-investors interact with each other. To gain these insights, we will be using a mixed-method approach involving players and team leaders to understand their traits, motivations, and dynamics. Next, we will analyze these data and conceptualise themes to uncover issues and pain points in interacting with P2E ecosystems.

We wish to create an artifact from these data points that will support the design and creation of both existing and future P2E games and communities, as well as to provide insights for this novel form of work.

How to Participate

For Phase 1, we are looking for the following:

If you qualify in one of the above points, we invite you to take the survey below.
Feel free to answer the survey in English/Filipino or Taglish.

$15 worth of USDT/BUSD/AXS/SLP will be raffled off to 5 random participants after the study has concluded.

Key Facts and FAQs

Who are you and why are you doing this study?
We are a group of Filipino researchers who wish to understand the perceptions of Scholars and Managers towards Play-to-Earn (P2E)/Crypto games such as Axie Infinity. The objective of this study is to generate insights to create general recommendations for the design of P2E/Crypto games. Once we have our findings, we will be very happy to share them with the rest of the community.  We wish to contribute to the body of knowledge and we guarantee you that there is no conflict of interest as we do our study.

Why Axie? How about other P2E games?
While we recognize that there are many P2E games prolific in the Philippines right now, we wish to also standardize the data we collect towards understanding relationships and perceptions on Axie. We shall consider other games soon once we have established our protocols based on our findings.  We welcome ideas on how to improve our method and protocol. We specialise in user experience, and human-computer interaction especially focusing on game, interface and visual design.

Will you publish this results and findings?
Since this research is initiative-driven, we wish to publish the results in top-tier venues in HCI which might affect the timelines of our public dissemination. However we will still be sharing our findings to the general community through our official channels soon.

Is my data and my privacy protected?
Yes! We take into high regard your privacy and your data. All answers will be anonymized. For more information about how your data is managed, protected or secured, you may visit this link: Terms and Data Privacy Protocol
